I know I have not been posting in DannyTechy for quite a long time already. I've been working on my other project - which the title suggests. I'm building an article directory from scratch with all PLR the articles I've obtained from Article Underground and different sources. It would take me 1 solid year or even more to post all the articles. New articles are still coming in every now and then so I have no idea when this is going to end.

There are a number of benefits from building your own article directory. You are actually building yourself an automated money generating machine with Google Adsense. If you have considerable amount of members, they help grow your site instead of you. When you are just starting, the site may have extremely low traffic and unpopular. People may not want to publish their articles on your site. However, when your site gets larger; it's a completely different story.

It has been almost one month since my case study started. My aim is to create a new website from scratch to make money online. I had made a couple of unforeseen changes two weeks after the project that impacted slightly on the outcome. I moved to a paid hosting for better SEO so that wasted me 2 weeks of work. Also I spent 2 days tweaking the new site to make it presentable. Another week spent moving and uploading the contents. And finally, I implement Google Adsense to the site after my site has enough contents. I also followed the steps in Article Underground to massively link to my site from their many PR4 sites.

The result was not what I was hoping for. My overall Adsense income is a big disappointment as shown in the screen shot below. Did the strategy not working out as planned? I had some of the most expensive keywords around..




However, something surprised me today when I checked my Adsense report for yesterday. The traffic started to come in and I get $13+ with just 10 clicks! That's not too shabby for a 3 weeks old site.



I'll keep my fingers crossed for now. Hopefully I get more traffic coming and higher conversion rates for the next 1 month. At this point, I am completely ignoring that site and letting it run on its own. I have a bigger fish to fry and it will be one of my remaining secret weapons.

Let's face it, how easy do you think it is to make money from Adsense nowadays? With Google's ever changing policy and recent crack down on websites with duplicated contents; those who were able to make a living from adsense in the past are now struggling to even make 100 a month.

Do not simply trust anyone who's selling those quick-buck Adsense ready websites. Especially those content-ready article websites. They simply would not work as effectively as it used to be. Because they are selling the same articles (contents) over and over again. Websites with duplicated contents will score low for Google adsense. As a result, you gain less CPC from the adsense adverts. Sure they are easy to set up but don't expect any good results from them.

However, do not take my words for granted as I also learned this from experience.

One way around this is to outsource your content writing to ghost writers. But that poses another problem; their services are expensive and hard to come by. The next alternative? Find someone who employs these ghost writers and sell you their work!
